Australia beats India by 77 runs
Australia plunged a massive Mumbai crowd into funereal silence by thrashing India by 77 runs in tonight's tri-series cricket match.
Australia's Michael Clarke went from tender-faced new chum to giant killer by taking 4-42 from 10 overs in his eighth one-day international, including the prized scalps of Sachin Tendulkar before his home crowd and Indian captain Rahul Dravid.
India was all out for 209 in 46.2 overs in reply to Australia's 8-286 with Wankhede Stadium close to half-empty at the end.
Opening bowler Nathan Bracken also took career-best figures - 4-29 from 10 overs - while Damien Martyn defied sweltering heat and sauna-like humidity to hit his fifth career hundred after Australia's top order was gone halfway through the 14th over.
Batting in an ice collar to try and beat the heat, Martyn made an even 100 and put on 111 with Michael Bevan (42) to stem a steady run of wickets.
Tendulkar and Dravid had added 99 from 101 balls and were playing the spinners with ease when Clarke first struck.
Tendulkar had played the late cut superbly all night, but Clarke beat the little master for bounce and bowled him for 68 to send the crowd into an eerie quiet.
Clarke then had Yuvraj Singh caught behind sweeping and completed a fine cameo when Dravid (59) was out to a foolish reverse sweep.
India was on target to challenge Australia's total at 2-139 in the 27th over, but lost its last eight wickets for 70.
Clarke later bowled Anil Kumble to complete his haul.
