Carbone arrives for Sydney FC trials
Italian striker Benito Carbone arrived in Sydney on Wednesday night promising to first woo Sydney FC coach Terry Butcher before taking the A-League by storm.
Carbone, who played in the English Premier League and Serie A, arrived from Rome looking fit but tired from his long flight.
He said he was looking forward to his first training session with Sydney FC on Thursday.
"It is a long way (to Sydney from Rome) and I am tired but I have come here to show the people I am ready to play," the 35-year-old Carbone said.
"I still have the desire and I still have the magic and I will show the people in Sydney what I can do.
"I am a professional football player and I want to bring what I can do to Sydney FC."
Carbone was quick to answer questions about his fitness declaring he had completed a full pre-season with Serie B side Vicenza.
The 168cm pint-sized dynamo looked lean after playing four matches during his pre-season stint with Vicenza.
"I have done a pre-season with Vicenza and I am fit and ready to play," Carbone said.
"I feel I am ready to play a game straight away but I will start the training tomorrow (Thursday) morning and we will see from there."
Sydney FC takes on the Newcastle United Jets at Aussie Stadium on Sunday at 3pm.

I think this is where the A-League could fall over - going for 35 year old has-beens its not the way, otherwise we will end up being a joke league like the ones in Qatar.
