Aussies in union says Giffin
The Wallabies left their resort-style training base for Adelaide but not before again playing down fears of growing disharmony within their ranks.
Vice-captain David Giffin, cleared by medical staff to play off the bench in the Pool A Rugby World Cup match against Namibia on Saturday, was in the hot seat fending off questions concerning player morale following comments by a disheartened Chris Latham.
Speaking on Wednesday, Latham suggested not everyone was a happy camper.
Latham, who'll get his first World Cup run at fullback against Namibia, along with five others who've not seen any action, gave the impression he didn't rate his chances of being part Australia's upcoming finals campaign very highly.
When told former Australian centre Tim Horan had urged Wallaby coach Eddie Jones to find room for both him and likely No.15 Mat Rogers in his finals XV, Latham made the half-hearted remark: "There's a turn up ... room for me somewhere ... gee."
"Mate who knows?," added Latham who rejected a significant European offer to re-sign with the Reds in the hope of playing a major role in Australia's World Cup defence.
"I've given up predicting where I would like to be or where I should be."
Giffin, who came through a full range of tests on his injured shoulder to be cleared for the weekend, said every player at some stage had to deal with selection disappointments.
"There's always going to be a number of guys who miss out," said the Brumbies lock, closing on his 50th Test.
"Guys are disappointed, but there's certainly no disharmony in the team.
