Swans' Jack good chance to play Crows
Sydney Swans' AFL coach John Longmire says injured midfielder Kieren Jack will play in this weekend's clash against Adelaide if he can get through training on Thursday.
The Swans' 2010 best-and-fairest player left the field on crutches in the narrow loss to Collingwood, with fears he could have severely re-injured the ankle which forced him to miss five games earlier in the season.
But Longmire said Jack, as well as injured teammates Alex Johnson (calf) and Ted Richards (ankle), will take the field on Saturday night against the 14th-placed Crows if they pull up well after training.
"Kieren Jack and Alex Johnson and Teddy Richards will have to train today to be able to play," he said.
"We'll find out after training and, hopefully, they'll all get through, but Kieren obviously is the one there's a big question mark on.
"Even if he doesn't play this week, we're pretty pleased that he should be available for next week.
"We'll have to see how training goes."
Longmire said all three players will make the trip to AAMI Stadium if cleared to play, as the Swans look to bounce back from consecutive losses to top-four teams Carlton and Collingwood.
"If the medical team give us the tick to play them, we'll play them," he said.
Longmire said the Swans will have to guard against complacency against the Crows, who have lost their past six matches.
"It's probably a threat and an opportunity for us this weekend to make sure we continue playing well," he said.
"Adelaide are a very proud footy club. We expect a good performance, and that's what we'll have to do to make sure we win the game."
