Kangaroos bound into Paris
Australia's touring rugby league squad landed in Paris on the first leg of its European tour, still licking its wounds after last week's loss to New Zealand.
The depleted Kangaroos open their tour against a French Select XIII in Carcassonne on Saturday before flying on to London for next Tuesday's game with England A.
Sydney Roosters' second rower Craig Fitzgibbon said the French match would be a good warm up for the three Test Ashes series against Great Britain after Australia's 30-16 defeat in Auckland last Saturday.
"It's a very good opportunity to work a few combinations together and I'm pretty sure the French team are going to come out firing and they're going to give it their best," he said after the team touched down in Paris.
"It's not going to be easy, we'll just have to get out there and do our job. It's a good opportunity for us to get some things in place and get ready for the first Test."
The opening Test against Great Britain is at Wigan on November 8, with the second in Hull on November 15 and the final game in Huddersfield the following week.
The Kangaroos will attend a reception at the Australian Embassy in Paris and then spend the next three days at a training camp in Barcelona before facing the French Selection.
