Unchanged Wallabies ready for France
Coach Eddie Jones has put his trust in the Wallaby team which faded against Scotland last week to step up another level against Six Nations champion France on Saturday.
Jones named an unchanged side for the Stade de France Test which he has repeatedly described as the benchmark game of Australia's four match tour of Europe.
Despite giving away an overwhelming height and weight advantage, he stuck with the mobile back row of Phil Waugh, George Smith and John Roe after their solid performance in the 31-14 win against the Scots in Edinburgh last Saturday.
"We were reasonably happy with the way we started the tour against Scotland and haven't seen the need to make any changes at this stage," Jones said.
"This will be one of the biggest Tests of the year. Playing France, the Six Nations champion, in Paris, in front of a huge crowd is really something the whole team is looking forward to.
"We've prepared well so far this week, we know we need to step it up another level, and we're going to continue to play our traditional style of positive rugby."
While Waugh, Smith and Roe are one of the smallest back rows Australia has put out in a Test and face the giant trio Olivier Magne, Serge Betsen and Imanol Harinordoquy, the entire Australian pack will be under pressure.
"It's going to take a huge effort," said loosehead prop Bill Young.
"We respect Scotland but coming here to Paris to play the French, is a much bigger task. As far as European sides go, they're the number one side and whenever they're the number one side it means their front row and forward pack is going forward."
After leading 28-0 inside half an hour at Murrayfield, the Wallabies drifted off in the their first match in 11 weeks, allowing the Scots to outscore them 14-3 in the second half.
