Heal returns to the NBA
Boomers point guard Shane Heal has been given another shot at National Basketball Association glory.
Heal has achieved the impossible in Australia, scaled the heights of Europe and conquered the international scene over three Olympics and two world championships.
Now he's been given a chance with the San Antonio Spurs.
Heal has signed a contract with the NBA champion, albeit one that can be terminated at any time.
He will re-join former Sydney coach and close friend Brett Brown, San Antonio's director of player development.
The 33-year-old Heal played in Greece between 1998 and 2000, where he was an all-star and among the league's leaders in points and assists.
In April he finally achieved his dream of an NBL title, captaining the Kings to their maiden championship.
And now, he gets another shot at the big time.
"I'm realistic. I'm going over there to fill a role," Heal told AAP.
"I need to be able to spark the offence, which I think I can do.
