Tas wins outright against NSW
New South Wales handed Tasmania outright points on day three of their Pura Cup match at Bellerive Oval, ending the Blues' hopes of a place in the final.
After waiting most of the day for a break in the rain, Tasmania steamrolled the Blues for 157 in just over an hour, winning by an innings and 55 runs.
The Blues lost their last five wickets for 13 runs and made only 41 for the day after resuming 3-116.
South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and NSW are now tied in third place on 20 points.
Tigers rookie Ben Hilfenhaus took 7-58 in the Blues' dismal second innings, recording a personal best 10-87 for the match.
Wicketkeeper Sean Clingeleffer took 10 catches, beating his own record for the most catches taken by a Tasmanian keeper in a Pura Cup/Sheffield Shield match.
He has now taken 40 dismissals in the season, beating the Tasmanian record of 39 set by Mark Atkinson.
Left-hander Travis Birt, who set up Tasmania's victory with a 160-run knock on Friday, was man of the match.
New South Wales batsmen Aaron O'Brien (12) and Dominic Thornely (46) resumed at 4.30pm (AEDT) with only 32 overs to face.
But a sheepish O'Brien returned to the change rooms one ball later after patting a full toss to mid-on.
Brad Haddin (13) was dismissed six overs later, one of five batsmen caught behind during the innings.
Thornely was caught behind four runs short of his 50 and the final seven wickets fell in a blistering 19.5 overs.
