Lappin looks low after training
Nigel Lappin completed a searching fitness test on his injured ribs on Friday but must wait until the 11th hour to learn his AFL grand final fate.
The key Brisbane onballer looked sombre as he left the Albert Park ground with his team-mates, after their short training session before about 3,000 fans.
Towards the end of the workout, Lappin was put through the much-anticipated fitness test on his injured ribs.
Emergency Aaron Shattock - who could take his place in the side against Collingwood - and Lappin threw each other to the ground with crunching tackles for 10 minutes.
Lappin then spent several minutes talking with coach Leigh Matthews and Brisbane support staff before training ended.
Immediately after the lunchtime grand final parade through the Melbourne CBD, Matthews said Lappin had to impress at the training session.
"We don't know yet, we're (on) a Wednesday-Friday training schedule and he didn't train Wednesday, so he hasn't done anything to prove himself yet," Matthews said.
"This afternoon will make him or break him, as they say.
"He's got to be able to do what needs to do within a game."
Lappin hurt his ribs in last Saturday's preliminary final against Sydney in a collision with team-mate Shaun Hart.
