Tigers turn it around to stun Port
Richmond coach Terry Wallace was asked if the stunning 56-point AFL win over Port Adelaide was the biggest turnaround he had seen.
"What, in relation to the game or in relation to the week? - well, it's a bit of both, isn't it?", he said.
Seven days after St Kilda belted them by 73 points at the same ground, the Tigers recovered from a 28-point deficit in the second term to win 19.9 (123) to 9.13 (67).
Richmond kicked 13 unanswered goals to stomp on the reigning premier, while Port did not kick a goal from 10 minutes into the second quarter until eight minutes into the last.
Matthew Richardson celebrated his 200th game with 17 marks and three goals in a best-afield performance, Nathan Brown kicked six majors and young midfielder Shane Tuck was outstanding with 26 possessions.
Remember, this was last year's bottom side against the reigning premier.
After six games, the Tigers have won as many games this year as they did all last season.
They had not beaten Port during the pre or regular seasons for seven years.
"That's one we've broken, that's one thing that's gone now," Wallace said of the Power's winning streak over his team.
"That's the sort of stuff you've got to do when you've been down for a long time, you've got to break all those hoodoos."
