Motor greats join forces for V8 assault
Dick Johnson and Glenn Seton, fierce rivals one day, great mates the next.
Three-time king of the mountain Johnson, and arguably the best driver never to win Bathurst, Seton, will team up for an all-out assault on this year's V8 Supercar championship.
Arch enemies on the track and around the mountain during the 90s, Johnson once described Seton as having the personality of a "speed bump" during one of their many hard fought campaigns.
Seton's response was to race Johnson with a sticker on the back of his Ford declaring "beware, speed bump up ahead".
It was all good natured fun.
Now they've joined forces with a mutual goal of helping each other back to the top of the motor racing mountain following a few lean years.
"We were fierce rivals in the early and late 90s because we were chasing the same Ford dollar and the Ford support," explained Seton.
"But there was never any bad blood between us and our teams always had a lot of fun on and off the track."
Seton has one shot a year at Bathurst so one tiny mistake and it's gone for another year.
He's been chasing his dream since 1983, finishing second three times, including the past two years.
