Hogg the star again as WA beats SA
The Brad Hogg Show concluded at Adelaide Oval, with the chirpy Western Australian all-rounder capping two days of batting heroics by starring with the ball to lift the Warriors to a 106-run Pura Cup win over South Australia.
Needing 351 to win, SA was bowled out for 244 in its second innings more than an hour into day three's final session.
It was WA's third outright win in five games but it was not enough to lift it out of third position on the table.
However, the Warriors will start the new year within striking distance of top sides Queensland and New South Wales.
A WA victory seemed inevitable after the Redbacks, who were skittled for 131 in the first innings, started on 2-27 and soon slumped to 4-60.
But Greg Blewett gave the home side some hope with a patient 80 from 197 balls, along with a fluent 48 from youngster Callum Ferguson.
They put on an 88-run, fourth-wicket stand either side of the lunch break to take SA to a more promising 3-148.
But, for the third time in as many days, Hogg swung the momentum of the match.
He took a brilliant low catch off his own bowling from a full-blooded drive to remove Ferguson.
He followed that with the prize wicket of Blewett, bowled around the wicket with the ball before tea attempting a sweep shot.
