Schwab disgusted by Picioane injury
Hawthorn coach Peter Schwab said he was "disgusted" at watching one of his players felled by a crude forearm to the face in AFL win over the Kangaroos at Telstra Dome.
The Hawks remain in finals contention after slamming through eight goals in the last quarter to turn a 23-point deficit at three-quarter time into a magnificent 16.14 (110) to 14.12 (96) win.
But Hawthorn was seething after onballer Lance Picioane was taken from the field on a stretcher after Kangaroo Jess Sinclair caught him flush in the face with a raised forearm.
Picioane was left with a badly-lacerated cheek and Schwab was furious.
"I'll be quite frank, I'm disgusted at what happened to Lance Picioane," he said.
"He's got a severe cut and we don't know, there may be more damage.
"If one of my players had done something similar, as a coach, I'd be filthy on him."
In a fiery game, several incidents will be closely scrutinised.
Kangaroos captain Anthony Stevens lunged at Nick Holland and made contact with the Hawk's face and Roo defender Glenn Archer clashed with Joel Smith.
There were no reports laid, but Schwab said Picioane's injury soured Hawthorn's win.
