Jackson pleased with operation results
A relieved Lauren Jackson said she was delighted with the results of surgery performed on her right ankle.
The superstar repaired extensive cartilage and ligament damage on her right ankle, which had caused considerable pain and discomfort since the Athens 2004 Olympics.
The operation was performed by orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon, Dr Martin Sullivan, at Sydney's St Vincent's Private hospital.
"As you can appreciate, it is obviously confronting to be advised you are dealing with a possible career-ending injury at the age of 23," said Jackson.
"The best news is that this surgery will address not only my ankle problem, but also shin splints and back pain that has resulted due to this injury.
"Under the guidance of Dr Sullivan and Dr Burne, I will now embark on a process of rehabilitation, including strength and fitness work, which will ensure optimum recovery, and result in my being able to play basketball at an elite level for years to come."
Lauren's parents, Gary and Maree Jackson, said they were amazed and similarly delighted with the news.
