Waratahs disinterested in Edmonds
The NSW Waratahs say they are not interested in luring back Manny Edmonds, despite the former Wallaby five-eighth's outstanding season with French club side Perpignan.
Edmonds was named player of the 2003-04 season in the French rugby championship after guiding Perpignan to the final, where they lost to Stade Francais.
The 27-year-old also guided Perpignan to the 2003 European Cup final.
He was thought to be in line for a return to the Waratahs, who have struggled to fill the No.10 jumper over the last few years, but NSWRU chief executive Fraser Neil refuted claims they were after Edmonds for the 2005 Super 12 season.
"To be honest he's not really come up in discussion," Neil said.
"I don't think he is (interested) either from what I've heard. He's not been approached, we have not approached him."
Neil said he was tired of the Waratahs being linked to every five-eighth, whether they were on the market or not.
"I can't believe no-one knows we're going after (England skipper) Jonny Wilkinson yet," Neil said tongue-in-cheek.
According to Neil, the Waratahs were happy with Tim Donnelly and Shaun Berne, their two options at five-eighth for 2005.
Edmonds, who played for NSW from 1998-2002, played only two Tests for Australia, the last of which was against South Africa in 2001.
