Chiming In with Steve Gillis

Honest, raw conversations with sometimes controversial figures in sport. Hosted by Steve 'Chimes' Gillis.

Peter Sharp is one of rugby league's most respected and longest-serving coaching minds, over 40 years in the game, and the man widely credited with discovering and shaping a young Andrew and Matthew Johns at the Newcastle Knights.

From playing days at Maitland in the 1970s and a colourful path through Central Charlestown, England and Newcastle's junior system, Sharp went on to become an NRL head coach at Manly, an assistant to Craig Bellamy at Melbourne, and later took Hull FC on a 13-game winning streak in England before switching codes entirely to coach Ulster in rugby union.

These days he's back in the NRL working alongside Phil Gould at the Canterbury Bulldogs.
Sharp opens up on discovering a teenage Joey Johns, the night out that nearly cost the Jersey Flegg side a game, getting sacked and picked straight back up by Craig Bellamy, and the toughest and funniest moments from four decades on the sideline, plus a candid word on mental health and the Black Dog Institute.

In this episode of Chiming In, Peter shares stories from a career that's taken him from suburban rugby league grounds to Belfast, and reflects on what's changed in the game he's given his life to.

This is an honest conversation about success, failure, crime, punishment and second chances. Subscribe for future episodes featuring some of Australia's most high-profile sporting figures as they share stories you've never heard before.

Chipping In - Fanatics Golf Club

Hosts Ollie Silverton & Ewan Porter look at all the week's golfing news.

And what a week it has been for the game of golf for the professionals and the amateurs. Ewan ticked off playing every course in Sydney this week and Ollie saw his first ever amateur hole-in-one which was in a match against him.

In the professional game Rory McIlroy showed his class with an epic win at the iconic Pebble Beach whilst his compatriot Shane Lowry was stealing the show with another incredible ace and Jason Day took the headlines with his outfits. Over on the DP World Tour former LIV golfer Laurie Canter gets yet another win as does former world number one Ollie Schniederjans in India.

This week is a party week with the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale and Ewan shares some epic stories from his time there, a place he knows well after living on the course for a number of years.

As ever the guys finish with something they love and hate about the game and Ewan has another tip for all you amateurs who are trying to work out how to finally crack the uncrackable game.
