Thomas slams tribunal
Grant Thomas is "gun-shy", "disillusioned" and "confused" about the AFL tribunal and thinks league chief executive Andrew Demetriou would also have concerns.
On the same day the AFL announced a $5,000 fine for Collingwood and a suspended $5,000 penalty for coach Mick Malthouse after his tribunal comments last month, Thomas ensured the Saints would likewise swell the league's coffers.
Malthouse reacted by saying he would be reluctant to speak any more about game issues.
Thomas strongly backed calls for a tribunal overhaul after losing three of his players at last night's marathon sitting.
The Saints will Thursday night appeal defender Luke Penny's two-match ban for rough play.
But they decided against appealing Fraser Gehrig's two-match penalty and Brent Guerra's one-match ban, both for striking.
Thomas made it clear the Saints were unhappy with all three verdicts.
When asked why there would be no Guerra appeal, Thomas replied: "That's a very good question and one we pondered for a long, long time.
"I suppose we're so confused that we're a little bit gun-shy also.
"But we're very, very clear on the Penny one and that's the one we're putting all of our resources and efforts into."
