White gets first outing
Legspinner Cameron White will make his first appearance for Australia when he plays against Zimbabwe A in the two-day tour match starting on Tuesday at the Zimbabwe Cricket Academy.
But he might not even get the chance to bowl much or bat as the home side contains just two players with Test experience, one of whom - Vusi Sibanda - was dropped from the side that lost the first Test to Sri Lanka by an innings and 240 runs.
In what looms as an embarrassing mismatch, Australia has been given permission to rotate all 13 members of its Test squad over the next two days.
The match is the sole warm-up game before the first Test, starting Saturday.
White, 20, was on top of the world when he played a key role in helping Victorian win the Pura Cup final over Queensland in March and was thrilled to be selected for this tour when Stuart MacGill made himself unavailable on moral grounds.
None of Zimbabwe's rebel players was named for the match as the dispute continues with the Zimbabwe Cricket Union.
The two parties are yet to come to an agreement over the rebels' protest against selection policies and it is uncertain if any of the group - now comprising 14 players after allrounder Sean Ervine left the country for Australia - will play in the first Test.
The Zimbabwe A team will be captained by Blessing Mahwire, who was left out of the second Test against Sri Lanka after he was reported for bowling with a suspect action in the first Test.
Mahwire (six matches) and Sibanda (two) are the only members of the side with Test experience, while White is the only Australian not to have played a Test.
The match starts at 5.30pm (AEST) on Tuesday.
