Voss' knees makes Lions wary
Brisbane coach Leigh Matthews has conceded his star AFL captain Michael Voss is a week to week proposition at the start of the 2004 season.
Voss could not attend tonight's AFL season launch in Melbourne because of swelling to his troublesome right knee.
Matthews admitted his fitness was uncertain.
"There's going to be so much talk and copy written about Michael's knee I think most weeks," Matthews said.
"It's not so much what happens when he gets on the field but how's he going to pull up and how that will affect him week to week and we don't know the answer either.
"We're week to week in a lot of footy issues but with Michael's knee it's exactly the same."
While the Lions' trumpcard enters the season under an injury cloud, Sydney - Brisbane's round one opponent - believes its best player can only get better in 2004.
Swans coach Paul Roos said Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes had the potential to take his game to a new level this season.
"He can get better this year and I'm really looking forward, without putting too much pressure on him, I'm looking forward to him playing and he just looks like getting better and better," he said.
Roos said Goodes had been overworked towards the end of last season when No.1 ruckman Jason Ball went down with a shoulder injury.
