Mixed results for Aussies in squash comp
Queensland's Grinham sisters came through straight games quarter-finals in the Women's Squash Challenge in contrasting styles.
Third seed Rachael defeated England's Linda Charman 9-4 9-0 10-9 in 38 minutes, while Natalie went down 9-3 9-2 9-5 to England's world No.1 Cassie Jackman, the second seed.
Rachael Grinham, the reigning British Open champion from Toowoomba, was in commanding form forcing the former world No.3 to the front of the court with a succession of volley boasts.
Natalie's exceptional speed around the court was not enough to nullify the power and excellent short game of Cassie Jackman, the six-times British National champion from Norfolk who has been in imperious form in Qatar.
Too many great all-court rallies ended with the Australian stretching and flailing but not quite reaching a rasping drive deep into a back corner.
The semi-final between Jackman and Rachael Grinham will be a repeat of last month's Kuwait Open final, which the world No.1 from England also reached after beating the younger Grinham sister in the previous round, then lost to the older sibling.
The other semi-final will also feature English interest as eighth seed Fiona Geaves takes on Dutch star Vanessa Atkinson, the fourth seed.
