Woewodin suffers identity theft
An AFL footballer has lost thousands of dollars after becoming a victim of an identity fraud racket, a report said.
Collingwood footballer Shane Woewodin lost the money after a gang targeting celebrities stole his credit card details, according to a report in the Herald Sun.
Thieves used his credit card details to buy phones and other goods and ran up bills of thousands of dollars, the report said.
He first became aware of the scam after he received a mobile phone bill from a company with which he had no dealings, according to the Herald Sun.
He reported the crime to police and the matter was being investigated, it said.
A police spokesman said he did not have any information about this incident.
