Sharks instigate independent review
Cronulla have called in an independent accounting firm to undertake a review of their governance and management procedures in the wake of the NRL club's spate of off-field issues.
The Sharks board of directors called in BDO Kendall to cast an eye over the club, with one of their key tasks being to look into the validity of expenditure allegedly made from the Beyond Sharks Foundation.
Clint Leigh Elford appeared in court on Wednesday after being charged on Tuesday over an alleged $500,000 life insurance fraud believed to be linked to a donation made to the club.
It was later revealed Elford's donation to the Beyond Sharks Foundation had not been disclosed by former Cronulla chief executive Tony Zappia to board members.
The accounting company will deliver its final report to the NRL.
