Barnes joins Reds squad for S Africa
Injured Queensland playmaker Berrick Barnes has been named in a 26-man squad for the Reds' three-match Super 14 tour of South Africa.
Barnes missed Saturday night's stirring 40-8 upset win over the reigning champion Bulls with a calf strain but is expected to be fit to return in next weekend's clash with the Lions in Johannesburg.
The 21-year-old Wallabies five-eighth, suspended winger Digby Ioane, centre Chris Siale and reserve prop Ben Coutts have all been added to the team which scored five tries at Suncorp Stadium.
Like Barnes, Siale (hamstring) has been given a clearance to return from injury against the struggling Lions, while Ioane has one more match to serve from his three-game ban for a high tackle.
Both Barnes and Siale will battle for the No.12 jersey with rookie Charlie Fetoai after the youngster combined well in attack and defence with talented five-eighth Quade Cooper.
Queensland squad: (props) Greg Holmes, Dayna Edwards, Rodney Blake, Ben Coutts; (hookers) Sean Hardman, Stephen Moore; (locks) Van Humphries, James Horwill, Ed O'Donoghue; (backrow) John Roe, David Croft, Poutasi Luafutu, Leroy Houston, Scott Higginbotham; (halves) Sam Cordingley (c), Ben Lucas; (inside backs) Berrick Barnes, Quade Cooper, Chris Siale, Charlie Fetoai; (outside backs) Morgan Turinui, Peter Hynes, Clinton Schifcofske, Brando Va'aulu, Digby Ioane, Chris Latham.
