WA crush Tigers to top ING Cup table
A measured Marcus North sent Tasmania's one-day season south and directed Western Australia to the top of the ING Cup table.
North (75no from 98 balls) navigated WA to a bonus point with a controlled display in the three-wicket win at the WACA Ground to all but end Tasmania's limited-over ambitions this summer.
Chasing 194 for victory, North and Brad Hogg (26) put on 68 runs for the sixth wicket after looking in some trouble at 5-120.
North anchored the run chase, coming in with the score at 1-49 and guiding the Warriors past the visitors' total in the 37th over.
The 24-year-old's match-winning knock came in 139 minutes with 12 fours and a six and he deservedly hit the winning runs with a glance for four.
The win ensures WA (14) moves two points clear of NSW (12) on the ING Cup ladder while it leaves the Tigers without a point from four matches.
Tasmania earlier opted to bat first with Shane Watson (63) and Sean Clingeleffer (48) steering the Tigers to 9-193 after 50 overs on a track with a strong green tinge.
Ryan Campbell (42 from 42 balls) made a blazing start to the WA innings before Gerard Denton took a sharp return catch to dismiss opener Chris Rogers (14).
Michael Di Venuto then missed an opportunity before North got off the mark which proved costly in the wash-up.
Campbell lost his momentum and WA slumped from 1-82 to 4-100 as quick Adam Griffith (3-40) put the brakes on the Warriors innings.
