Morris offers dumped twin NRL hope

It didn't take brotherly intuition for St George Illawarra winger Brett Morris to know how to comfort twin Josh following his surprise dumping to Canterbury's NSW Cup side this week.

Josh Morris proved to be the scapegoat as Bulldogs caretaker coach Jim Dymock put his imprint on team selections in his first full week in charge of the club, which came about following the resignation of Kevin Moore late last week.

Brett, who played with his brother at the Dragons before Josh left for the Bulldogs in 2009, admitted he felt for his brother, with whom he had also played alongside in Josh's one and only Australian appearance less than two years ago.

"I went and saw Josh, obviously he's a bit disappointed but he's a man, he copped it on the chin," Brett said on Friday.

"He knows himself that he probably hasn't been in the best form and he just knows that he needs to get back down there and play some good footy and hopefully he gets a call-up soon.

"Josh is my best mate and things like that hurt him ... he's a bit down."

Josh's pain is something Brett knows all too well after the now Australian regular found himself on the outer at the start of coach Wayne Bennett's reign at the club in 2009.

Brett spent the first two weeks of the season playing for the Dragons' feeder side Shellharbour, but by the end of it was the first winger picked in the Australian team during their triumphant Four Nations campaign.

"I remember when I was playing a couple of games of reserve grade, he was the first one to come and watch and talk to me about it - it was just a good support group to have," Brett said.

"I said to him 'you're not going to be there forever'.

"Certain things happen and you've just got to deal with them the best you can.

"You can't mope around about it, you've just got to go about it the best way you can and I'm sure Josh will do that."
