Craig not confident of keeping key Crows
Adelaide coach Neil Craig admits he is not confident the Crows can keep all the players they want for next season, in the face of offers from Greater Western Sydney.
Three key players - forward Taylor Walker, defender Phil Davis and midfielder Bernie Vince - are all speculated to be poaching targets of the AFL expansion club.
Craig, whose own job security for next season is under question, said Adelaide could not afford to lose any of the three, but it was impossible to have any degree of certainty they would all stay.
"How can I be confident? Guys have an opportunity to go somewhere else for whatever reason. The rules are they can take another contract to play," Craig said on Thursday.
"It would be stupid to say I am 100 per cent confident."
Walker's immediate future is also unclear.
The marking forward has played just one AFL game since round seven, when he injured his knee against Brisbane in round 10.
In his return through the SANFL, he copped a one-match suspension for a dangerous tackle, ruling him out of an AFL comeback against Essendon last round.
But Craig said even in Walker's SANFL comeback, the 20-year-old's injury absence appeared to have taken a toll on his form.
"He missed a lot of football, I saw his first game back - he looked a bit rusty to me," Craig said.
"Not ideal for him to miss a game through suspension but that's done and dusted.
"Hopefully he can jump back into form to give us an option ... but he needs to be in good form."
The embattled coach refused to speculate on his own future.
"It's more about my opinion, the players' opinions and the board's opinion," he said.
"I don't think there will be any decision made until the season finishes. If I was a board member I would want every bit of information on the table."
