Mooney likely to miss Essendon clash
Geelong key forward Cameron Mooney looks set to miss Saturday night's AFL match against Essendon with an ankle injury.
Coach Mark Thompson said the Cats were planning for Mooney's absence.
"He's probably doubtful to play," Thompson said on Thursday at the launch of the redevelopment of Skilled Stadium's new Northern Stand.
"We're probably not counting on him to get up and play on the night."
But Thompson said James Podsiadly will be fit to play, despite suffering a groin injury in the Subiaco rooms before last weekend's win over West Coast.
Mooney rolled his ankle in the first quarter last weekend and will likely join fellow forward Tom Hawkins (foot) on the sidelines.
Geelong will also be without fellow premiership stars Matthew Scarlett (hamstring), Joel Corey (knee), Brad Ottens (foot) and Max Rooke (knee) for Saturday night's match at Etihad Stadium.
