English league star Eastmond suspended
Rugby union-bound St Helens star Kyle Eastmond has been suspended by the club following allegations of serious misconduct, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
Eastmond, 21, one of the hottest properties in rugby league, recently confirmed a deal to switch codes after agreeing a three-year deal with union side Bath which is due to begin in November.
However Eastmond's departure from the 13-man game may be hastened by the disciplinary proceedings against him.
No information about the circumstances of the alleged incident were given by Saints.
"St Helens RFC have announced that Kyle Eastmond has been suspended pending an investigation into serious misconduct," the club said.
"No further comment will be made until completion of the investigation."
Despite a stellar start to his professional career in 2009, Eastmond has struggled so far in the Super League.
The scrum-half was forced to apologise to the club's fans after snubbing them at the end of Saints' home defeat by Warrington last month.
