North players back Brayshaw
North Melbourne's players have signalled their support for chairman James Brayshaw following his re-election to the AFL club's board.
Media personality Brayshaw shook off a challenge from long-time club benefactor Peter de Rauch to keep his spot on the board at Wednesday night's annual general meeting.
Kangaroos midfielder Liam Anthony said the club's players were pleased the off-field issues had been put to rest, and said Brayshaw deserved to be commended for what he had done at the club.
Anthony said North's signing during the week of a new sponsor for their redeveloped Arden Street training facility was evidence of that.
"We have the utmost respect for James Brayshaw and his board of directors. The club's never been in better shape ... you can just see with our new Aegis Park facility," Anthony said on Thursday.
"They've done a tremendous job getting us to where we are."
North Melbourne open their pre-season campaign on Sunday at Skilled Stadium against Geelong and the Western Bulldogs in the new shortened three-team first round stage.
