Clermont's Cudmore cited for punch
Clermont lock Jamie Cudmore, in his first game back after a 10-week ban for stamping, has been suspended pending a hearing into an alleged punch he landed on Perpignan's Gregory Le Corvec.
Cudmore will appear before the disciplinary committee of the National Rugby League, the body that runs the two professional leagues in France, on January 19.
The Canada international was clearly seen making contact with a prone Le Corvec at a ruck during Clermont's 22-16 win over Perpignan on Wednesday.
Le Corvec left the field dazed after the incident, and later received five stitches in his mouth, underwent a scan and will be out for at least eight days, according to the Catalan club.
Cudmore, 32, was making his first appearance for Clermont after serving a 10-week ban for stamping on Saracens flanker Jacque Burger in a European Cup game.
It was not the Canadian forward's first run-in with European Rugby's disciplinary board, having also picked up five and four-week bans in recent seasons for fighting.
