Brisbane Lions return to work
More than a dozen Brisbane players will return to work on Monday in preparation for the AFL's Shanghai Showdown in China next month, although most Lions stars will be notable by their absence.
Skipper Jonathan Brown and veterans Simon Black and Luke Power will be rested, but they will make the trip for the October 17 exhibition match against Melbourne to fulfil promotional duties.
The Lions are yet to finalise their team but early indications are it will be mainly fresh-faced rookies and novices.
Forward Cheynee Stiller (76 games) is the most experienced player named in the squad followed by Daniel Rich (46), James Polkinghorne (39) and Jack Redden (32).
The Shanghai Showdown forms part of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and will be played at Jiangwan Sports Centre.
Lions squad (more to be added): Ryan Harwood, Jesse O'Brien, Bryce Retzlaff, Sean Yoshiura, Claye Beams, Josh Dyson, Aaron Cornelius, Bart McCulloch, Jack Redden, Daniel Rich, Tom Rockliff, Tom Collier, James Polkinghorne, James Hawksley, Sam Sheldon, Cheynee Stiller.
