Galea stays with Raiders
Canberra back-rower Danny Galea has been given a significant boost ahead of his NRL finals showdown with former club Penrith, re-signing with the Raiders until the end of 2011.
The former Panther and West Tiger, who had signed with the Raiders on a one year deal this year, has enjoyed a strong season despite missing the early rounds with a broken hand.
"I was a bit nervous when I signed to come here to Canberra and play for a new club but it's been an exciting year and I'm keen to stay longer," Galea said.
"It's good to re-sign with the club for one year and I'll be using that year to try and get a longer contract because I'm really enjoying myself in Canberra."
It is the perfect preparation for Galea, who is excited about taking the field in his first finals match since 2004.
"All of the teams in the top eight are playing well and we don't mind who we play in the finals, we just can't wait to get out there," Galea said."
Raiders Coach David Furner said Galea's re-signing was a reflection of the hard work and commitment he's put in this year and said the club was elated to have him on board for another season.
"Danny has been in tremendous form of late," Furner said.
