Panthers add Plum to Laurie capture
Penrith have secured a second forward in two days after confirming the capture of Canberra second-rower Nigel Plum on Thursday.
The Raider will join controversial Wests Tigers prop Daine Laurie at the NRL club next season as the Panthers aim to add depth to their forward pack.
Laurie's signing on a two-year deal was confirmed by the Panthers on Wednesday despite criminal proceedings into an alleged assault of his girlfriend.
Laurie appeared at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday charged with assaulting his partner and mother of his two children at their Leumeah home last week.
He was released from the final year of his contract with the Tigers to take up the deal at Penrith.
And in a short statement on Thursday, the Panthers confirmed Plum would be joining Laurie at CUA Stadium next season on a one-year deal.
"The two players will add considerable depth to our forwards for the 2010 season," Panthers chief executive Michael Leary said.
"The forwards are an area we have concentrated our targeted recruiting on and are pleased to have signed both Daine and Nigel."
Plum, 26, played 13 games for the Raiders this season and has played 58 career matches since making his debut in 2005 with the Sydney Roosters.
