Stop Judd, stop Carlton
The message emerging from the Sydney Swans ahead of Sunday's AFL elimination final is simple: stop Chris Judd and you stop Carlton.
The talismanic Blues captain will be enemy number one at ANZ Stadium this weekend as he tries to end the fairytale finishes for Sydney pair Paul Roos and Brett Kirk.
But the 26-year-old will have to do it all with a target on his back with the Swans singling him out as the man to watch.
"He's the real barometer for them, if you can stop Chris Judd around the stoppages, and around the play you can go a long way to stopping Carlton," Jack told AAP.
Jack was given the job of shutting down the Brownlow Medallist in round 16's 39-point win to the Swans, a move which Sydney will almost certainly adopt again.
"It's something we'll be really looking to employ and we did that last time and we did quite well," Jack said.
"I went to Juddy last time and it seemed to work for a half.
"We might employ similar tactics, I know that they'll probably want to change things up as well.
"It will depend on the make-up and I suppose a few of the matchups but I suppose we'll wait and see."
Jack has taken his game to a new level in the past month and has started to gain attention from opposition taggers.
He credits the improvement partially on his own history as a tagger, where he matched up on the likes of Judd and Geelong's Gary Ablett.
"The things that you pick up playing on those sort of players week in week out has been amazing for me," he added.
"I've written down notes and things like that, I've played nearly 70 games now, so I've definitely got a lot of knowledge and now I'm starting to use that the other way.
"One thing, as a young kid, playing on those sorts of players they take you to the footy and teach you a few tricks.
"Now it's all sort of coming together, I can lead the play a bit more and try and hurt the opposition."
