Saints need to use ball better says Lyon
St Kilda coach Ross Lyon admits the Saints have become too one-dimensional in attack in AFL games.
The Saints are winless from their past three games, having lost badly both sides of the round 17 draw with Hawthorn.
During that period St Kilda's scoring has dried up even though star forward Nick Riewoldt has resumed playing after his hamstring injury earlier this year.
Lyon said the Saints have to use the ball better going into attack and had become too reliant on getting the ball to Riewoldt.
"Last year we scored a lot more," he said.
"We feel we're going to Nick a fair bit so we need to find a bit of balance with that which is always an issue with key forwards.
"We want to get our competitive spirit and run back and see where it takes us."
St Kilda will be without fullback Zac Dawson because of a hand injury for Sunday's game against Port Adelaide.
Half-back Raph Clarke has been ruled out for the rest of the season because of a hamstring injury.
