Polak cleared of injury
Richmond say key-position player Graham Polak escaped injury in a sickening collision of heads in the VFL.
Polak was knocked out in the opening minute of Saturday's game between Coburg and Werribee when he and opponent Mitch Thorp flew for a mark and clashed heads in mid-air.
The incident immediately raised concern for Polak given he suffered a brain injury when hit by a tram two years ago.
Polak, who was playing for Coburg, has dispensed of the helmet he wore when he made his comeback to the AFL late last year, and was put in a neck brace on Saturday and carried off the ground.
Polak, 26, took no further part in Saturday's game and at halftime was told to go home and rest but Richmond said on Sunday he had recovered well.
A Tigers spokesman said Polak was feeling good and was cleared of any injury when assessed by club doctor Greg Hickey.
But Richmond will wait until Monday before deciding whether Polak trains this week and make a call on him playing next weekend in a few days time.
Polak returned to the AFL for the last two games of the 2009 season but has played only three games this year, the last in the win over Port Adelaide in round 10.
Thorp was also treated for concussion and took no further part in the game.
