Richmond defender Polak out of hospital
Richmond AFL defender Graham Polak has been discharged from hospital after suffering brain injuries when he was hit by a tram on June 28.
Polak left the Epworth Rehabilitation Centre on Wednesday morning, Richmond said.
"Graham still has a very long way to go with his recovery and will be undergoing extensive rehabilitation in the coming weeks," Richmond club doctor Greg Hickey said in a statement.
Tigers coach Terry Wallace said the club was pleased by Polak's progress.
"We are thrilled that Graham has been able to show doctors at the Epworth Rehab Centre enough positive signs that he can return home," Wallace said.
Polak, 24, whose brain was bruised when he was struck by the tram as he crossed a street in Melbourne, was put in an induced coma.
He awoke from the coma two days later and was transferred from The Alfred Hospital to the Epworth on July 4.
