Polak moved to Epworth rehab hospital
Richmond AFL defender Graham Polak has been moved to Melbourne's Epworth Rehabilitation Centre, almost a week after he was hit by a tram.
Polak, 24, was moved from The Alfred Hospital on Friday, where he has spent the past five days recovering from serious head injuries following the accident.
There was no major change to Polak's condition on Thursday night, but his move to Epworth is seen as a positive step in the rehabilitation process, a statement from the Richmond Football Club said.
Polak awoke from an induced coma on Monday after suffering brain bruising when he was hit by the tram on Saturday night while crossing Dandenong Road in the Melbourne suburb of Armadale.
Since awaking from the coma, Polak has walked assisted to the shower and spoken from his hospital bed.
He was eating and able to recognise names and faces, but was still sleeping most of the time, the club said on Wednesday.
It is not known how much time Polak will spend at Epworth Rehabilitation Centre, the club said.
