Don't give up on us say Socceroos
The Socceroos still believe.
The odds may be heavily stacked against them, but they are the last people in the football world to surrender hope of qualifying for the World Cup knock-out stage.
Dont give up on us, said defender Craig Moore, who along with striker Harry Kewell must miss the final group match against Serbia through suspension.
In football we see a lot of things.
"Its all possible.
It would be un-Australian going into that last game giving up.
Captain Lucas Neill declared: "We still strongly believe, and while there is belief there is hope.
"We are going to keep fighting to the end."
Kewell is another who hasn't given up the ghost.
"We've still got a chance," he said.
Hopefully we get a little bit of luck next time (against Serbia).
You never know.
Neill said he had seen enough evidence from playing both Ghana and Germany to think that the Germans were capable of "whipping" Ghana.
That's one of two scenarios the Socceroos must hope for on Wednesday (Thursday AEST) - apart from themselves beating Serbia.
The other is for Ghana to beat Germany by any margin.
"There are still two ways we can qualify," said Neill.
"We want Germany to play against Ghana the way they did against us and maybe win two or three-nil.
"And if we score against Serbia, and they start pushing up, we might be able to get a second or even more."
Neill was stoked by the fighting spirit his 10-man team showed in the 1-1 draw with Ghana, especially coming on the back of a 4-0 hiding by Germany.
"I couldn't ask for anything more," he said.
"It was a definition of what it is to be Australian.
"We were up for it, we put it on the line.
"We became a family again, we found the spark that had been missing for a couple of games.
"We are still here.
"The nation shouldn't give up on us because we haven't given up."
