Cornes denies he's a diver
Port Adelaide midfielder Kane Cornes says scrutiny about staging is irrelevant.
Cornes was the first player investigated for staging for free kicks under new AFL rules this season.
And the Power onballer was one of four players highlighted in the AFL umpiring department's pre-season DVD on rule changes and interpretations.
Cornes admits staging when then-Swan Barry Hall shaped up a few years ago during a match.
"That wasn't one of my best efforts," he said Wednesday.
Under new rules, a player found guilty of staging for a free kick or 50 metre penalty is sent a written warning for their first offence.
A second offence is a $1600 fine and a third offence results in a $2400 fine.
"I haven't received a warning or any correspondence from the AFL," Cornes said.
"So it has been good for you guys (media) to talk about, but from my point of view it hasn't really been an issue.
"I don't spend anytime thinking about it.
"Sometimes it's an instinctive reaction during a game of footy that a million things are happening at once, but I have given it very little thought."
The AFL scrutinised Cornes' actions in Port's away match last month in Geelong, when bumped at a stoppage.
"They investigated an incident against Geelong but nothing came of it," he said.
"Certainly this year, I haven't dived, there has been contact made and I have fallen over."
