NRL hails extra $3m in sponsorship
The NRL has received a multi-million dollar boost for the new season, announcing it has secured agreements which will generate an extra $3 million in sponsorship revenue.
With the 2010 season kick-off less than two weeks away, the NRL said the added income came from both new sponsorship contracts and the renewal of a number of key long-term partnerships.
"It's a real show of support from corporate Australia for rugby league," said NRL commercial and marketing director Paul Kind.
"The speed and excitement of the (NRL) has seen it come through a difficult global financial market with significant commercial support."
Keno, Coca-Cola Amatil, TAB Sportsbet and AAMI were companies to have increased or extended their support for the game, the NRL said.
Harvey Norman has also committed to a further two years sponsoring the All Stars match, which made a successful debut last month.
