Lockyer confident for NRL despite injury
Brisbane captain Darren Lockyer is confident of being fit to play in NRL first round clash with North Queensland despite injuring his bicep in Saturday's inaugural NRL All Stars clash on the Gold Coast.
Lockyer was forced off the field midway through the first quarter of the pre-season extravaganza, which was won by the Indigenous All Stars side 16-12 thanks to a late Jamie Soward try.
Test, Queensland and Broncos five-eighth Lockyer will have scans on the arm when he returns to Brisbane on Monday.
Lockyer said the arm felt fine but reported there was a small bubble in his bicep which NRL All Stars medical officials wanted checked out.
The news was far less positive on Knights skipper Kurt Gidley, who returned to Newcastle on Sunday morning still seeking a diagnosis on his injured leg.
Gidley limped off after a heavy tackle by Knights teammate Cory Patterson, but it appears the Tests utility did not injure his knee as initially feared.
The Knights star is due to undergo more scans in Newcastle on Sunday.
