Lions settle logo dispute
The Brisbane Lions and Fitzroy football clubs have settled their legal dispute over the Lions' new logo.
Fitzroy had accused Brisbane of failing to keep an agreement signed when the clubs merged in 1996 to use their lion logo "in perpetuity".
The disagreement came after Brisbane altered the style of the lion, which they argued did not break the terms of the merger contract.
But the two clubs have reached a compromise, under which the old and new-style lion logos will both be used on certain items for the next 14 years.
They include club stationary, club publications, marketing material and the Brisbane Lions' website.
Brisbane said in a statement the two clubs were pleased to have reached an amicable settlement.
