Schmidt calls it a day at Swans
Sydney Swans player Tim Schmidt has announced his retirement from the AFL club, effective immediately.
The 23-year-old was recruited in 2003 and has made 17 first team appearances for the Swans since debuting in 2006.
"It is disappointing for Tim but we are supportive of his decision," Swans chief executive Andrew Ireland said.
"On behalf of all at the club, we thank him for his efforts over the six years he has been with the club and wish him every success in the future."
The South Australian-born Schmidt plans to remain in Sydney and pursue a real estate career.
