Time plus space equals Inglis danger
Parramatta centre Joel Reddy is prepared for the fact there are going to be times in Sunday's NRL grand final when Greg Inglis is simply unstoppable.
When the Melbourne superstar is too fast, too big and too strong for any defender.
The only thing Reddy and his fellow right-side defenders can try to do is limit how often Inglis has an opportunity to win the game for Melbourne.
"A lot of it's probably just got to do with cutting down the amount of time he has with the ball," said Reddy.
"He's a freak, he's going to do some big plays and some of them are going to be unstoppable, but we've just got to try and limit the damage and keep our talk up and try and do the best we can on him.
"It's a team effort. I don't think there's one man who can just shut him down. As a unit, we've got to all defend well.
"All you can do is limit the damage he does because he's going to cause some damage out there and all we can do is just limit that and if it means we've got to scramble sometimes that might have to be what we do."
Reddy will be joined on the right-side defence by winger Eric Grothe, second-rower Ben Smith and halfback Jeff Robson.
While Parramatta have had the occasional lapse of concentration down their right flank, Robson believes the team is ready to do the job on Inglis by rushing up into his face.
"You have to just try and nullify their time when they get the ball, just get up and try and get in their face," he said.
"You're not going to be able to stop players like that, they're really good with the football in their hand and you've just got to do your best to nullify their time and just get in their face and do your best to slow them down that way."
