Harrison leads the way for Roosters
Sydney Roosters lock Ashley Harrison says it's a "great honour" to be named captain for Friday's clash against Brisbane in just his sixth game at the NRL club.
Harrison will lead the side in the absence of regular skipper Craig Fitzgibbon, who will miss the game due to an ankle injury.
"To captain any NRL team is a big thing but to get an opportunity so soon at a new club is a great honour," Harrison said.
"I enjoyed the role at Souths last year and to get the opportunity again is great.
"Having the `c' next to my name will give me more responsibility this weekend.
"Personally I don't think I'm anywhere near top form yet, I'm still finding my feet at a new club.
"To go to a new club and get straight into top form doesn't always happen, it takes time.
"I'm working very hard to improve each week."
The Roosters' depth will be tested on Friday, with Adrian Morley (wrist), Ryan Cross (ankle), Nigel Plum (knee), Shane Shackleton (shoulder) and Fitzgibbon all in the casualty ward.
The Broncos also have injury concerns, with centres Justin Hodges and Brent Tate on Thursday ruled out with ankle injuries.
Brisbane rushed 21-year-old Rockhampton product Ian Lacey into the 17-man squad which flew to Sydney on Thursday, joining former schoolboy star Greg Eastwood, who had been called in to replace Tate.
