Cats get claws back just in time: Mooney
Geelong forward Cameron Mooney says team stability has come at the right time for the Cats as they prepare for their third successive AFL grand final.
The Cats set up a grand final clash against St Kilda with a 73-point preliminary final thumping of Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday night.
It was an emphatic reminder the Cats are over some indifferent late season form - Mooney attributing the lift to key players returning from injuries and some selection stability.
"We haven't had our full side in since round 14, and we've been making three, four or five changes a game," Mooney said.
"We're finally getting everyone back, all the boys are fit and we haven't got any injuries from last night so we're feeling pretty happy."
Geelong and St Kilda have dominated the home-and-away season, but the Cats do have the advantage of having played in two previous grand finals.
St Kilda haven't made a grand final since 1997, and have won just one - in 1966.
"We're a bit older, a bit stronger and hopefully we've learned over the last couple of years and that will hold us in very good stead on Saturday," Mooney said.
