Thurstans retires, six Dockers leave
Port Adelaide premiership player Toby Thurstans has retired after 110 AFL matches.
Thurstans, 29, kicked three goals in the 2004 grand final win over Brisbane.
"I simply don't think I have enough left in me to get through another season," Thurstans said in a club statement.
"The mental and physical rigours of an AFL season demand so much and I am not the sort of person who is going to go on unless I think I can contribute 100 per cent."
Power coach Mark Williams praised Thurstans for his football smarts and said he was retiring on his own terms.
"Toby retires with an AFL premiership medal after waiting four years to play his first game," Williams said.
"He didn't just play in that grand final - he played really well."
Meanwhile Fremantle have announced six players will leave the club.
Andrew Browne has retired, while the Dockers have delisted Adam Campbell, Daniel Gilmore and Josh Head along with rookie-listed players Brent Connelly and Luke Pratt.
