Halfback Scott Prince and ageing dual international Mat Rogers conjured up a match-winning try for the Titans in their 16-10 NRL win over Canberra at Skilled Park on Friday night.

With the game locked at 10-all Prince set up for a 78th minute field goal from 30m out only to change his mind at the last second.

Instead he headed across field and found Rogers on the burst, his teammates almost crushing him after he touched down for the winning try.

Rogers, who played most of the game in the centres, said he almost fell over after Prince slipped him the match-winning pass.

"I nearly fell over when I stepped which is probably why the defender missed me," grinned Rogers.

"I didn't think I'd get there. I did the little rat thing and burrowed through and scored.

"I tried to celebrate but Mini (Mark Minichiello) bear hugged me and then the whole team jumped on me."

Prince said the Raiders saw his field goal coming so he decided to gamble on running the ball.

"I ran across field, hit the Rat and watched him do his thing," said Prince who tormented the Raiders try line defence with his superb short kicking game.

Despite the win, Rogers said the Titans attack continued to struggle.

"We haven't even come close to hitting our straps in attack," he said.

"We've been working so well for each other in defence and most of the tries scored against this year have been off kicks.

"I can't put a finger on it, if I could, I'd be worth a lot of money.

"I don't have the secret but when you've got players like Scott Prince and Preston Campbell and ball runners like Anthony Laffranchi and Ash Harrison it's going to happen eventually.

"It's just not happening at the moment."

Raiders coach David Furner said the heavy defensive work load on his players in the first half and some inexperienced decisions hurt Canberra's cause.

"We were in it right until the end," he said.

"But 174 tackles in the first half may have taken some juice out of us."

Canberra halfback Marc Herbert will have scans tomorrow after injuring his ankle late in the second half.
