Injured Hines out of France match
Scotland lock Nathan Hines has been ruled out of Saturday's match with France and could miss much of the Six Nations after undergoing knee surgery.
Both Hines and prop Euan Murray (rib) will not recover in time for this weekend's clash after their injuries meant they were ruled out of the side beaten 26-13 by grand slam champions Wales in Sunday's first round clash at Murrayfield.
Scotland coach Frank Hadden delayed naming his side until Wednesday to give prop Geoff Cross and wing Simon Webster, both of whom sustained head injuries after mis-timing tackles against Wales, more of a chance to recover.
However, the other 10 Scotland players who had injury question marks against their name did all train on Tuesday.
Hines, who plays his club rugby for French side Perpignan, has been optimistic about his chances of making a quick recovery but Scotland doctor James Robson said the second row could be out for between two to five weeks.
He was more upbeat about Murray, whom he reckoned could be fit in time to face Italy at Murrayfield on February 28.
